God's Angels

Okay. My heart is finally beating again. Today Austin was out riding his bike. He came running home to get me yelling that a kid had been hit by a car. So, I take my cellphone and walk up the street wondering who it could be. All the while thinking it might be one of the new neighborhood kids who just moved in last week. Dozens of cars are parked on the sides of the road. Police and fire trucks are parked blocking the entrance to our subdivision. As we make our way closer to the chaos, a neighbor stops to tell me who it is. I literally gasped as I heard the name of the daughter of our friends THE HONEYS.

Austin was so concerned. He kept telling me she was laying on the ground when he came to get me and there was blood everyone. My mind immediately started thinking about the Chapman's and their sweet little Maria. After the ambulance left with her I could see her poor 16 year old brother just standing there recounting the events to police and neighbors. He had been walking just in front of her and had seen the whole thing. Neighbors stood around and talked about how cars in the neighborhood drive way too fast on the front street of the subdivision.

The two younger boys are now in my basement playing video games with Austin and Dylan while their big brother, Mom and Dad are at the hospital with the daughter. We've been told the Cat scans were fine and it seems everything will be okay. She's in some pain from all the cuts and bruises, but thank God she is alright. I'm so glad God's angels were protecting her from a far more tragic ending. I'm also thankful for our wonderful neighborhood. It was great to see many of the moms come together to lift up this family in prayers and take care of everything.

Poor Austin and Dylan. The reins going to get a little tighter for a while.

Open House Sunday

Well, I just finished an open house today. I was totally prepared to be bored, but ended up having five groups of visitors! Didn't even have time to read the new book I checked out from the library.

On Friday I walked the neighborhood where my open house was. Walking in 90 degree heat in heels is no picnic. Let's just say I definitely needed a shower and I've been wearing flip flop, heel-less sandals since. I enjoyed walking the neighborhood though. I met three really nice people and talked to them for a while. Also met a very nice lady when I knocked on her door to ask if I could put my sign in her yard. One nice lady that I met, Ann, came to visit with her husband. They want their son and his fiancee to buy the house so they can be near by all those future grandbabies. I hope it works out for them. If I could sell him the house, that would be even better!

Who knew my gift of never having met a stranger would one day pay off in my career? All those times my dad tried to pay me to be quiet. It helps to have a gift for gab in real estate. Enjoying my new career so far. I'm definitely keeping super busy! Don't forget, if you ever need help finding a real estate agent, no matter where you live, I can help you out. I'll help set up interviews with experienced agents and I'll earn a referral fee at no extra cost to you. Just give me a call if you need any help!

Middle School - Man I'm Old!

Yes, today I began to feel very old. I guess that's what happens when you have children in your early twenties. Today was the first day of school. Austin is in 6th grade and Dylan is in 5th. They are both in middle school this year! My baby is in middle school. I didn't cry, but my eyes did get a little misty talking about it not once, but twice today. Dylan made Austin stop on the sidewalk so I could take a photo. Of course, Buster thought he was going to school too.

It is now almost an hour since school let out. I'm beginning to panic that the bus hasn't dropped them off yet, but I have to remember it's always crazy the first day. I'll give them 20 more minutes, then I'll call as crazy psycho mom. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Jam Packed August

Wow, we've been busy. James has been working a lot. I'm not complaining. At least he is still a captain and still has a job. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, so working a lot is a good thing. I definitely appreciate him more when he comes back from a long trip.

We are gearing up for the start of school. It's a little weird that Austin and Dylan will be starting school this year and I will not. That's a first for us. But really I am in school right now. I've started Prudential's Academy training. My classes meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Once the boys head off to school then I go to class. I'll have lots of assignments I have to complete after each class, like knocking on strangers doors and asking them if I can sell their house. A little unnerving, but reminds me of selling candy bars when I was little. I also have to hold a minimum of three open houses each month. At least it's a good way to meet buyers. I'll graduate from this program as soon as I close on three houses. If I get this done within six months, they'll reimburse me for some of my pre-licensing coursework. Now I have a goal to reach for.

Last week we took Austin and Dylan to school to pick up their schedules and put stuff in their lockers. We were concerned Dylan would not know how to open a locker, so we took the time to demonstrate and then let him try. He got it on the third try and completely memorized his combination. Then we head over to Austin's locker thinking it would be a piece of cake. Hello, he had a locker all last school year. I swear, he had to try about 50 times before he could get it open. He is such an airhead. I can't complain, he definitely gets it from my gene pool (Dad) (let's be honest, me too). I was laughing so hard! James kept looking at me and saying, "He's just like you!" I'm glad the boys will be back at the same school this year. That always makes me feel better, not sure why.

Austin and Dylan went camping with some of our neighbors this weekend. They had a great time tubing down the Missouri River and camping. I'll see if I can get some pictures from them to put on the blog. While the boys were away I held my first open house. Actually I shadowed someone else, but it taught me a lot. We had one person come through - hope I'm not bad luck! I'll be on my own next week. A little nervous about that, but also excited!

Sorry no pics yet, but I'll work on it.

My New Business Card

I'm so excited!!! Just wanted to show everyone my new business cards. Julie my office manager designed it. She did a wonderful job. Some of you might be receiving one in the mail soon. Now I just need to start selling some houses.
